Allegro Vivo, Lower Austria's oldest music festival, opens its doors every summer to thousands of music lovers, concert goers and hundreds of students from all over the world. From mid-August to mid-September, Allegro Vivo transforms the mystical region of Waldviertel, the "forest quarter" some 100km north-west of Vienna known for its charming landscape, which reaches as far as the Czech border. Beautiful castles from the Middle Ages, magnificent baroque abbeys and lovely historic towns resound with music and make an enhancing setting for around 50 events.
