Summertime is festival time, part two: for classical-music buffs, trying not to miss any of the highlights of the festival season may become really stressful. There is a number of high-class opera or classical music events that are on throughout the Centrope region. Particular crowd pullers frequently are open-air opera festivals with their very picturesque venues, such as the festival of Klosterneuburg in July or the Gars Open Air from mid-July to early August. Other events worth mentioning here include the festival at Retz, the venue being the church of the Dominican monastery, the International Music Festival of Český Krumlov, the 26th Chopin Festival at Gaming, the “Allegro Vivo” which takes place in the library of the Benedictine monastery of Altenberg in Waldviertel, or the Chamber Music Festival scheduled for the second half of August at Laudon Palace in Vienna.
